Sociology Academic Excellence
Majoring in Sociology, Ngozia has shown a unique interest in mingling culture, politics, education and nonprofit management into cutting edge application. Ngozia was recognized by faculty and staff as an innovative scholar-dedicated to applying what she learned to applicable real-world experience.
Distinguished Engagement
Ngozia demonstrated excellence by being authentic, acting with purpose, living with passion, exhibiting integrity and respecting differing perspectives.
Recognized by her professor, peers, and supervisors Ngozia was nominated for three awards by UNCW's office of student leadership and engagement. Ultimately Ngozia was awarded the Distinguished Engagement Award for her commitment to service.
2020 Class Speaker for Assistance Dog Training
Nominated as her class speaker, Ngozia highlighted her reasoning for being a part of the first service dog training program instituted in a 4-year public university. Ngozia is also the first African American woman to graduate with a minor in assistance dog training from a 4-year public university.

With her ongoing demonstration to commitment to bettering the lives of others and collaboration with others to enact social change, Ngozia aims to inspire, build, and transforms the lives of children in her community.
Senior Medallion Award Nominee
Ngozia was nominated for the Senior Medallion for her focus on academic achievement through research, practical experience, and service learning. Ngozia’s history and depth in leadership as a leader in the Wilmington community, the classroom, as a student employee showcased her commitment of service to others.
Overall, Ngozia was nominated as a model lifelong representative of UNCW whose impact on the university is lasting.
